Biomol-Informatics develops tools for the fast and accurate analysis of data from large Next Generation Sequencing projects, including whole genome re-sequencing as well as targeted re-sequencing of specific regions of known genomes, assembly of de novo sequenced eukaryotic genomes, transcriptome analysis and metagenomic and evolutionary studies. Biomol-Informatics also has expertise in the study of (conservation of) alternative splicing and alternative transcripts in genomes. In EpiTRAITS, Biomol-Informatics will perform a computational study of the genes involved in flowering, including genome-wide NGS data from ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, and 4C experiments. Biomol-Informatics will implement bioinformatics methods for the analysis of genome-wide epigenetic sequencing data in an automated pipeline.
Biomol-Informatics also participatesin the FP7 projects DIVINOCELL http://www.cnb.csic.es/~divinocell/ (Antimicrobial compounds, HEALTH-F3-2009-223431) and DORIAN http://www.dorian-fp7.eu (Epigenomics of obesity and ageing, FP7-HEALTH-2011-278603). Biomol-Informatics coordinates the Spanish project “INNPACTO-DIGEN-1K” (NGS optimization).
Biomol-Informatics was founded in 2007 and works in several fields of computational biology including structural biology, rational drug design, comparative genomics and next generation sequencing. Additionally, Biomol-Informatics supervises PhDs and Post-Docs and teaches computational biology courses at various universities in Spain.
